The old drivers won't install on the new OS, the new drivers won't install on the old OS. Switch to EFI-rom'd card, to get to Finder and download new drivers.ģ. Manually downloading and installing drivers before this doesn't work because the installer says they are not for that (older) version of OS.Ģ. NVidia drivers are out of date and won't load, so NVidia card won't work. My update process has always been something like this:ġ. 09:37 AMPosted by GryphonmdI respectfully beg to differ, unless someone has managed to do this successfully. nVidia GPUs give you more bang for the buck (a lot more), but again, those require web drivers for full functionality and all currently available GPUs on the nVidia side aren't supported by Apple's built in drivers. It's a tough choice, but if you can live without a boot screen, AMD GPUs are drop ins.
On the not so plus side, you're paying steep prices for Mac flashed GPUs and any warranty goes bye bye. On the plus side, the nVidia GPUs are better than the AMD counterparts at the same price range. AMD GPUs don't seem to as they're just too much trouble. Right now only the nVidia GPUs up to the 1080Ti actively get flashes from MacVidCards. If you absolutely require a boot screen (very handy for troubleshooting and/or booting in single user or verbose modes), you'll need a Mac EFI flashed to the card. 03:57 PMPosted by AsterickxI have no experience with AMD cards if they show a boot screen.
